Bernkastel

A couple of weeks ago two friends, Alison and Melissa, and I went to a small town on the Moselle in Germany called Bernkastel. It's a ridiculously picturesque town surrounded by hills of grape vines and full of incredible half-timber centuries old architecture. There is also abundant wine and wiener schnitzel to be consumed.

The town, as we were crossing the Moselle, on foot.

Some of the old, lovely buildings in the main square.

Some German "fashion".

Kitten anyone?

Melissa and Flanders on the left, ALison and Isetta on the right. All in one of the many alleys that lead from the village to the surrounding hills and
grape vines.

Melissa looking into a shop with some locally-made pottery.

Jesus stomping grapes. He did so much in his time! Walking on water, proliferating loaves and fishes, and making wine too! Wow!

Leaving the town as it started to rain (good timing!).

A very friendly gent offered to take our photo. We had stopped to have one more bottle of sparkling wine. Cheap and good.

Paris "Never Dissapoints"

Even though I've been to Paris 8 or 9 times this year, Paris, to borrow a phrase, "never dissapoints". Seriously. You just have to go down another street and you see another scene of utter "frenchness" and beauty and astonishing attention to detail. It never gets old. The people watching is even better than in NYC - people can be so "French" it amazes me. Men really do wear scarves and carry baguettes while they ride scooters. Women in furs take their dogs to elegant bistros (or whatever you call them) and dine on huge platters of oysters and champagne for lunch. I love it. Even the non-french act French so the ambiance doesn't get too watered down by tourists.

This last trip we met our friends Linda and Dan, and their baby boy Zack. This was their first big trip as a new family and it was so much fun to experience the city with them.

Who says the French don't have a sense of humor? Isn't that a saying?

Getting that perfect shot of Ale and Zack, in front of the duck retaurant.

A cool exterior of a bar.

The interior of the same bar.

A woman very intently enjoying her gelatto.

Two tourists looking/acting French pretty nicely.

Nils, hammy and glammy as ever.

The gang on the Pont des Arts.

Some funky reflections in the 6th.

Baguettes to do (Dan and Linda).

Happy (and adorable) Zack and new mom Linda.

The fantastic light, outside Nils' and Ale's apartment.

A custom shirtmaker shop. You can get a shirt made for about 150 Euros, and up.

More reflections in the 6th.

We didn't eat here, but I liked the exterior.

Linda and some elegant wedding attire.

Another amazing exterior.

Dressmaker shop.

Buddies dressing alike.

This woman had powerful style. Just look at the way she stands. WOW.

Figs and blue - soon to be a painting.

Glorious dahlias - there were so many of them all over the city. Gorgeous!

Catching a glimpse into the kitchen of a Japanese restaurant.

Cool to warm of a scarf shop.

Random shot, capturing a chic guy on his Velib.

The Gang at the Lourve, by day.

The Lourve, Nils and the moon.

And #4, kids and adults playing some sort of NERF shooting tag game.

Cafe after hours.

These 3 men were so suspiscious of me.

And these 3 were lost in thought and intense conversation.

I liked the yellows and the warmth here.

The soothing, calm and shade of Luxembourg Gardens.
