We went to The Hague to meet up with our friends Alex & Lisa and their adorable boys Elijah and Milo (from our fantastic adventures in Turkey last spring). We also got to explore the beautiful and very Dutch (read: tons of bikes, interestingly-dressed and very very TALL people, great aesthetics, great food) city, one we have driven past on other other trips.
IT was crispy cold, but the sun came out.
And there were plenty of bikers on the roads.
The North Seacoast version of a gull. A bit shorter, fatter and I have to say CUTER than the ones I know back in Maine.
The palace - Queen Beatrice lives here, I think.
One of the few canals in the city - it's not like Amsterdam in that regard.
So many gorgeous, stately homes and huge elegant trees
... and more bikes!
One of many green parrots living in the city! I read that someone released a pet or two and the parrots acclimated and are doing pretty well living in the "wild". it was bizarre to see a tropical bird flying around a stately, FREEZING COLD Dutch city!
Dave driving home (photo out of order - sorry)!
Teens on bikes with giant milk-crate things for baskets.
Liked this sign. I'm guessing it says "good cut"?
Bike was decked out with orange boa feathers on a hot pink milk crate basket. Also had nice plastic flowers wrapped around the frame.
These bikes look they are having a bit of sexy-time. No?
Bulbs and bikes. How Dutch

Improvising
I love this one. If I lived in the Netherlands this would be my bike.
Trying out Indonesian food - apparently you can get some of the best INdonesian food in The Netherlands.
AND the north sea!
The sand was really fine and soft and there were tons of tiny, striped shells.
Lots of ridiculous, ugly architecture too. What happened with all that Dutch good taste???
