Spring Yellows

Let's take a moment to talk about the special yellow of Spring. Ironically, it's not the sweet, clear, happy yellow of easter eggs, baby showers and prom dresses. It's different than the yellows of summer and fall. Spring's is a deep, sharp, rich yellow, an "adult" yellow. It's sexy. Sometimes it has golden undertones, sometimes it has tinges of green, often it's garishly bright. I had a little photoshoot with a blossoming willow tree and a forsythia shrub today. The shouting-boldness of their color against the soft, dull blue grey of the cold early spring sky seemed to say "get ready people! it's SPRING, goddammit!"
