Trier Christmas Market

Last night we went to the Christmas Market in Trier, Germany. A couple of Dave's co-workers invited us to join them. I have learned that most the christmas markets around here are now run by the same company, so you often get the same food, stuff for sale, etc. Even so, it was very christmassy and festive and the people watching was great. The setting of a medieval town also provided amazing holiday ambience.

Some of the holiday trinkets for sale. I dont think much of the stuff is made in Germany anymore, but i could be wrong. This is Noemie, the daughter of Dave's co-worker, Thierry. She of course spoke 3 languages and she's probably only 7 yrs. old.

The merry-go-round, one of my favorite things at the market.

I loved that it was decorated with real pine cones.

From left to right: Nick (another American who came to Citigroup this fall), Thierry, Dave, Peter (another Citi co-worker, from Germany) and Peter's wife "Gud" (not sure how to spell that). They all have a little Gluhwein mug.

Peter and Gud.

Me and Peter, by a sign that seems to say "good fart".

Some of the historical architecture behind the market sheds.

Everybody drinking the Gluhwein. It was a really chilly night.

Some interesting looking dessert that was served warm with a cherry sauce on top.

Nick and his "Brewery Schnitzel".

Schnitzel up close and personal. Very very delicious. pounded slab of pork, breaded and pan-fried. often served with some sort of potatoes on the side.

Noemie and her dog, Cuba. He's a bichon. When he got tired or cold he'd ride in the little basket.
