MORE Paris

Okay, so I stopped trying to upload the photos in chronolgical order. there were just too many and I was getting confused. Here are more photos that were taken throughout the weekend.

Yes, this photo was staged. Nils' art direction.

The street/alley that Ale and Nils live on.

I love how the spotlight illuminates the fog.

This was a very interesting ad campaign by McDonald's. THe slogan was "come as you are" and they had beautiful, simple portraits of people messy, sweaty, "as they are", etc. It was a clever ad campaign. You dont have to dress up for McD's. they accept you as you are.

THe tiny tiny elevator that ran in the center of the staircase at N&A's apt. It was seriously about 2' by 2'.

N&A's front door.

A super chic man in a crazy beautiful, and over the top interiors shop. they were selling stone archways from old chateaus, stuffed peacocks and this gorgeous lamp with the carved stone or porcelain shade.

This woman is holding a live shrimp of sorts. the whole bin was alive.

A diagram of the different meat cuts on a horse.

Some assortments of horse meat.

We bought a cheap bouquet of mums and the man totally went to town on the wrapping.

It turned out like this:

The window display of a very elegant champagne bar and store.

This was crazy. We saw it in the "shop of curiosities" where they had things like a real skull of a Hippo, giant fossils, tortoise shells, jellyfish encased in some sort of polymer, and lots of beautiful seed pods, rocks, and shells. This is an actual meteorite that was found in 1947, in Siberia, i think. it's attached to a wire on the right and suspended by the magnetic force of the magnet on the left.

Some beautiful and exotic seed pods.

The store was under one of these arches, which is part of an old aqueduct. they made the whole thing into cool artist studios, shops, etc. and on top is a garden and path that runs the whole length of the aqueduct. It's beautiful.

The oldest, still potable fresh water springs/spouts in Paris. Since the late 1700's, i think. You can still fill your water bottle and drink without fear.

Us in front of Notre Dame. we saved going inside for a day with really bad weather. it was so crowded this time too.

I can't remember the name of this building. i think Napoleon built it. (When in doubt, say
"Napoleon did it") there was a series of very interesting, sad scuptures of people in front of it. This was one of them.

They love Obama there.

Purple and violet are the colors du jour.

The cab ride home from the Eiffel tower on Friday night.

This is a park near N&A's apt. I couldn't believe how many runners there were. it was as though there was a road race going on.

They served nice coffee drinks at the park.

Ok, so this is way out of order, this is the view from Sacre Cour.

Looking down a street in Monmarte.

Some ladies wearing berets. i'm guessing they were tourists too.

The plaza in MOnmarte for artists. This hood was where Picasso used to hang out. Or was it Napoleon? ;0  Anyway, it was very touristy and the art was pretty terrible.

Lots of men wanting to do portraits (for a price).
