Last weekend it continued to snow and on Sunday we decided to finally check out the American military cemetery just outside of the city. Over 5,000 American soldiers are buried there. I believe that most or all of them died during the "Battle of the Bulge" which took place right here, in our "back yard'. General Patton is also buried here. He requested this, and wanted himself to be buried, facing his troops. Ironically, he died roughly a year after the Battle of the Bulge after becoming paralyzed in a very minor car accident in Germany on his way to a hunting outing with his friends.

These tufts or balls in the trees are bundles of Mistletoe. Mistletoe grows on other trees, suspended on their branches. it's a sort of plant parasite. i never knew this. It's all over this area.
After the cemetery we drove up North to Vianden. The snow continued and it was beautiful. So christmassy, actually. Vianden has a huge, beautiful castle and a lovely town below it. It was also a site of a major WW battle, WWI, i believe.
